Rate and Return Comparison Calculator

The Rate and Return Comparison calculator will allow you to see the effects of accumulated interest on a sum of capital. Two rates can be selected and compared to illustrate how much difference a seemingly tiny increment of interest rate can make.

Directions:

1. Select a time period. Click the drop box and select a length of time the interest will be compounded for.

2. Select an interest frequency. Click the drop box and select the amount of times yearly your investment accumulates interest.

3. Select a principal amount. Click the drop box and select a sum of capital to apply accumulated interest onto.

From this point, you have 2 options:

1. Illustrative Comparison. Push the sliders left or right (click and hold on them and drag the mouse) to increase or decrease both rates, or

2. On-Line Comparison. Select live-data rates from our Money Centre and see how they compare.

Once all factors are in place, the calculator will begin to compute automatically. Any further adjustments will be seen as you make them. For a detailed report of what is currently displayed, click the 'Report' button.
